What's Sanata got in his bag of presents?

I am really pondering what Santa has in his bag of presents for me this year. I asked him nicely the other night if he would kindly ensure that I am dept free. I figure that is a good enough gift this year. He sorta snickered a bit when I asked, and I would believe it is because he knows my debt load. I am not sure if $300,000 + dollars can fit in his bag. I would certainly feel bad for the reindeer who had to lug that around all across the world before dropping the money down my chimney.

Oh wait, I forgot...I don't have a chimney. I figure we will buy the "fire" DVD and hopefully he can come through the TV. screen. Man that's a good idea!

Well honestly, I have no idea this year what Santa has in store for me. Most years I pretty much know and act surprised on Christmas Day. The hardest thing is I know exactly where Jamie (wait...Santa) has them stashed but I can't bring myself to look. I think it is because for once I will "truly" be surprised on Christmas Day.

P.S. Santa, if you can't give me the gift of debt free than I would really like a cordless power drill!!! That way I can hang the blind my wife would like me to buy and hang!

On a final note I would like to Wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. And if you don't get what you were wanting for Christmas...give Santa a big kick in the ass!

Winter Blues

Well I gotta tell you how disappointed I was with the weather conditions this weekend. Jamie and I ventured down to Estevan this weekend for a good old fashioned Cossette Christmas gathering. We left on Saturday morning bright and early as Jamie had a Wilcox Christmas staff party at our house Friday night. As we left the City of Saturday morning we couldn't see two feet in front of us as the fog was so thick, but it quickly burnt off just south of Regina. We quickly made our way down to Estevan in Auntie Rhonda's new truck hitting the odd fog patch here and there but nothing too horrible.

The weekend was GREAT. It was nice to see all of the Cossette gang again and share in a few Christmas drinks and an awesome meal. We ended the weekend off by attending church on Sunday morning and going out for a brunch (YUMMY!)

As we headed back to Regina on Sunday we discussed how nice it was to have such a warm nice weekend and how happy we were to not have to shovel snow this week. It seems like we are constantly shoveling snow from our driveway and walkway. As we got closer to Regina we started noticing all the vehicles heading south were covered with snow. Where did these come from? Did we get snow in Regina? I sure as hell hope not!!! It wasn't until we hit Milestone that the roads began to get crappy and we saw the odd vehicle stuck in the ditch. We hit the edge of Regina and it was complete mayhem. Cars stuck or spinning through the snow everywhere. Got home and saw or better yet didn't see our cars as they were covered in snow. STUPID snow. I has to shovel yet again.

So here is to hopefully not having to shovel for the entire week. Hold on I have to check the weather before I say that.......ok...the weather network looks promising!!!!

ON the up side, we have enough snow to take the snowmobiles out over the holiday season!

The communication chain sucks!

So I have to tell you, the communication chain truly and utterly SUCKS! If any of you were travelling on Ring road yesterday might have noticed the message signs say that we as motorists should slow down as there was a crew "working" on the Assiniboia Bridge, apparently inspecting it. Well the signs were great....IF....the company had not broken down and forgot to turn the signs off!!! So there we are as motorists driving down right road and see this fancy message sign flashing the works:
BRIDGE INSPECTION AHEAD
SLOW DOWN
and as we pass this sign we are finding ourselves looking around trying as hard as hell to find anyone who looks like they might be working on the bridge and.......nothing!
Flash forward to today.......I am driving back to work after having a healthy, yummy lunch at home and suddenly without much warning at all, the one lane (passing lane) that I am in has a million signs that push me into the other lane and I am stuck between two semis, one that sees the workers ahead and the one behind me that sees nothing and is driving full speed ahead. We all go flinging by a bunch of workers who look caught of guard by the sudden traffic while they are standing inches away from us!!! SO....the signs that were on yesterday while the crew was broke down and not working..warning the traffic of a ghost construction project going on, today no message sign and BAM......work is going on.
Doesn't this seem odd? All it would have taken is a phone call to the people who manage the sign and inform them that the project was delayed a day and everyone could have arranged their own ducks to go in the right dam order and provide the best possible warning to motorists. Instead no one talks, no one take action and shit hits the fan!
On another note.....if you have had a project on your desk since September and suddenly find it under a pile of crap and realize it is do NOW.....don't send it to me and demand an answer today. You will have to wait your dam turn and i'll get to it when I get to it. It is not my dam fault your behind the eight ball!!!!

Feel secure with Voxcom.....MY ASS!

So this post is going to be a bit of a rant and I apologize ahead of time if I get a little off topic. Let me start out by saying if you are looking to have a security system installed at your home....PLEASE....do not go with Voxcom Security! When we moved into our rental place on Athol Street, in the first week we had the City Cops in our backyard due to buglers using our backyard to break into our neighbours house. I am sure they were coming after our house but were deterred by the little sticker that said.......this property monitored by Voxcom security, and decided to jump the fence and break into our neighbours house. THe joke is on the burgles though. The place was not monitored by Voxcom. It did have a system installed, but was not active. After that incident we thought it would be best to look into getting our system activated to protect ourselves from being a victim. Let me point out a few things at this time.
  • 1st, we had to sign a 3 year contract,
  • 2nd, we were told that the system was pet friendly and would allow animal movements in the house while the system was active,
  • 3rd, we were ensure that if we moved we would only have to pay $50.00 to have a new system installed and continue our contract with the company.

Now off those points....non were true. We are now having to pay between $100 to $300 depending on the system we decide on. We have to re-sign a new 3 year contract and it is NOT pet friendly. We can not use motion detectors since our animals continually set it off. Gotta love the lies people tell to make a sale. (White City lot.....ahhh the lies!)

Now, I have arranged for Voxcom to install a system at our new place and have come to terms with having to pay out the ass for it but hey.....the price you have to pay to keep your family and possessions safe from assholes (get a job and stop fucking the rest of us over!!!). Well after two attempts and two failed appointments this is getting a little upsetting. The first failed attempt was understandable. The installer did not have the parts yet. The second failed attempt was not understandable and no matter how I look at it, it never will be. The installer called in sick and someone forgot that the clients who are taking off work to meet them and have a system installed should be notified. After sitting on my ass for two hours pissed off that they were so late I called the company to find out what the hold up was. Yep...that's right I had a chick on the other line trying to sluff off the issue and say oh...sorry. Fucking sorry.....come on, I took off work because some idiot can't be smart enough to inform their clients of the mix up?

So now we are maybe getting one installed, maybe not, but either way we are stuck with the company for 3 whole years....AGR.

Moral of the story....NEVER go with Voxcom, you are better off with just putting a sticker on your window! I have a few to give out if you want!!!!!

Underwood Fever

Well let me start out by saying I saw Carrie Underwood up close and personal. Jamie and I managed to get seats right beside the stage catwalk at Craven. We had AMAZING seats and could see everything up close and personal. When Carrie came strutting down the catwalk she was literally a foot away from us. She bent over to shake peoples hands and would you believe I saw her clevage...lol.....What a great evening.

For Reba we again came within inches of her as she sang from the end of the catwalk. She put on an amazing show and even smiled and waved right at Jamie and I as she stood only inches away. It was quiet neat to be that close to them.

YEEHHHAAAA!!!!!!

Well the kick-off to Craven officially happened last night, but tonight there will be some good old country music pumping out at the beer gardens. Can't wait....Love everything Craven has to offer for the four days we are there. Apparently this year, the campsites are already packed and if you haven't got a site yet, you will be WWWAAAYYYY...in the boonies for sure. We lucked out with the fact that we know people who are in the "gold" camping section!!!

We have our beer bought, coolers ready, food all piled together and we are ready to hit the door the second work is out. Four days of hot sun. tons of people, lots of drinking and GREAT music.....what a weekend!!! And to top it off, we are going to be going to Sask beach of Friday afternoon and do a little boating, wake boarding and tube riding!!!

If any of you are going to be out in the Craven area this weekend, be sure to give either my cell or Jamie's cell a call. If you don't get a hold of us, your welcome to try find us out there. Good luck though, with the mass crowd it would be easier to find waldo. Can't wait to see what crazy people we run into this year!

The hunt is over!

GOT A HOUSE!!

That's right kids, Jamie and I are now officially home owners of a large 1625 square foot home in the south end of Regina, and honestly being in the housing market wasn't really as stressful as I thought it was going to be. This was the second offer we had put in on a house and with only one counter-offer it was ours. Funny how the market is though. In January when Jess was buying a house they offered less than asking and counter-offered with many conditions such as a furnace upgrade, shingles replaced, etc. We offered $30,000 over asking and got counter-offered UP 7,000 dollars. No conditions on our except the condition of financing just to save our but in the case the bank says NO. We did luck out though because the owners had bought the house last fall and still had the house inspection info. that they had done. They gave up the papers so we can look over it. As far as I know, the only thing we plan on doing this fall is painting the outside and replacing the shingles. This winter we plan on replacing the kitchen, appliances and hopefully, cross-our-fingers...adding a washroom in the lower level. If you can imagine, we have sprinklers in the front lawn, ha ha..Sure we will use them once just to see them in action and then never look at them again...till we are old and appreciate our lawn.

Emery/Tyler....we take possession on August 2nd but are not planning on moving till closer to the 15th of August....non-the-less, we don't have a garage at the new place so we will have to figure something out in regards to your stuff. All in time though, no worries just yet.

Well, for now I can rest knowing we are in the market and no longer trying desperately to be in the market!

If you are interested, take a look at the link below. It has a bunch of pictures of the house!

Here's to waiting!!!

Well after many days of stressing and debating the pros and cons to building vrs. buying I am not proud to say we are no further ahead. Well that is not entirely true, we are going to look into both markets and see which one hits us first. We are officially putting in our first offer on a house in the South end this afternoon. As I write this, I am sure our real estate agent is working away hard at drafting up the offer. It is exciting to think that by tomorrow we may be the proud new owners of a house. It is quiet a nice house with all the bells and whistles. Granite counter top, hardwood flooring, central air and vac., 3 bedrooms with a bathroom off the master and a fully finished basement with 2 bedrooms. Not to forget the fact that it has not one, but 2 gas fireplaces. One in the living room and one in the family room downstairs. It also comes with all appliances including a new washer and dryer and dishwasher. New windows and a nice backyard with place for a hot tub and a double extra large garage. We put in a offer that is 30 thousand over asking and who knows if we will even come close. We are putting conditions on it and that may be the ticket that kills our offer in the end, but for our peace of mind we think it is best.

So here's to hoping we get the house. Next things next, we are going to ride out the market and see what it brings us. If it brings us a profit then we will still build in White City and live happily ever after, lol......we will see!!!!!!

Crazy Scarth Street in our Garage!

Well let me start by saying we had an awesome weekend! We had a garage sale this weekend and made over $400..closer to $500 between two couples. Who would think that the junk in their basement would be worth so much. Well I guess I can't say junk. It was pretty good stuff, just that after getting married we had a lot of surplus crap that we don't need anymore.

You wouldn't imagine the crazy people that we met this weekend at the garage sale....you would have thought that you were on scarth street.

On another note.......the building issue is still stressing me out. We are now debating over what side of Regina to build on. We have a lot in White City, but recently found some lots out at Deer Valley (on the west side of Regina) that are cheaper and overlook the valley and the golf course. WOW....we drove out there yesterday and were just blown away at the location. Amazing. Jamie is at an interview today for a job at Regina Beach and if she happens to get the job then we may be moving out to Deer Valley!!!!!!

We also may be able to get a friend of Jamie's dad to build our house. That way we can do a lot of the interior finishes and save a load of money. I guess until tonight when Jamie hears about the job we shouldn't make any concrete decisions. I will have to post again tomorrow to let you know all the details!!!

Baseball Fever

Well it is almost officially summer and I can say that I have already been burnt a few times and am enjoying the sun...when it is not raining. What I am not enjoying is our ball playing skills. I remember being on a team that never won anything a few years back but we at least all drank like fish before, during and after the game. This year we seem to show up, stand around the field, watch the birds fly by and when the game is over at a whopping score of tons to none...not for us, we stand around saying SHIT!

I think we need to start drinking more at the games so when we loose we can say, well at least I got drunk and possibly begin to blame the lack of skills on the consumption of booze.

On another note, we are still looking for a builder. If you know of any let us know so we can get going on this thing.

GET ER DONE!

Sooooo close to being done with the whole house search. We are finally at the point where we have picked a plan (fucking awesome plan at that) and have finished moving things around here and there to fit our needs. We have gotten a quote back and it, though a little higher than we wanted, fits into our budget. It is a tight fit, but none the less it fits. Can't believe that we can build a house for under $300,000 and it will be worth over $400,000 the day we move into it! That's just the way the market is though. Our final house plan has been approved by the developer and we are now at the stage of signing the final contract and finishing the bank work up. Stressful yet exciting at the same time I guess. P.S. We are building with Gilroy Homes and will be in our new home within 18 months....a long wait, but plenty of time to save up some more money.

Through the whole process we have really discovered the difference between needs and wants. We wanted a lot of upgrades but finally came to the realization that we needed to spend money on the needs (structure/windows/furnace/basement) and give on the wants (hardwood/tile/granite). We can always change the flooring or counter tops but it would be hard to re-build the foundation in the future.

There have been a huge number of things we have come to learn about building a new home that we had never thought of before. The biggest one being sure we know what our soil conditions are like and where the water table sits. Great info. to know when deciding on type of foundation supports needed such as piles or support footings and the need for a sump pump!

When we bought our lot 2 weeks ago there we over half the lots still available. We heard last night that there are only 2 lots left...they went fast once the word got out there. We were very lucky to be above the game on this one. The average lot in Regina costs approx. $90,000 which gives you a 50 x 60 foot lot. We paid $52,000 for a 60 x 130 ft lot. We will have a ton of grass to cut...lol, or a huge dirt pile for the first bit. Our dog will no longer be white!

Anyways, we are close to closing off on the first chapter of our home building book and starting on the second which will be choosing everything we want in it right from exterior colours to counter tops, fixtures, lighting, etc. Should be a good time!

What the F!

Well what can I say.....still trying to get a contract signed for our house. Builders seem to be the busiest people around. Argg.....

Progress on our House Plans

Progress on our house plans...when did that happen.......lets see NEVER! It is a crazy world out there right now when your talking about the real-estate market. We decided a few weeks ago that the way for us to "hopefully" capture some of Saskatchewan's booming economy is to build a home. Right now the prices are fairly similar when you look at buying a 1960's 1300 sq foot home in Regina and building a brand new 1300 sq foot home. The only difference is with buying you most likely have to put even more money into renovating it, but you have to wait FOREVER to move in. We are currently looking at approx. 18 months from date of signing to date of possession but for us we are OK with that. We are guaranteeing ourselves an affordable house now but saving up for 18 months too.

We bought our land in White City.....18.3 meters wide and 40 meters deep (HUGE!!!) and now we are down to finding a builder...well a builder and a final floor plan. We spent Sunday touring show homes and talking to builders and wow......there are a lot of decisions. Now we knew that going into it, but with builders being so busy we have to hopefully find a builder who will put effort into our house and not just throw it together like all the other cookie-cutter houses out there. We have a busy week ahead of us with meeting builders every day after work and hopefully by next week we will have a contract signed and be on our way to getting our new home.

A new house!

Well, lets just say the last week has been one hell of a stressful one. We went in a complete 360 in our ideas about what we are going to do in regards to our housing situation. After attending a recent home buyers seminar it seems that building is the way to go. So, as you can guess, we are actually looking into building a new home now. We have started getting all of our ducks into a nice little row in order for this new idea to get going. We have looked into the area we want, found a house plan that we fell in lover with, went to see our mortgage advisor and got our finances in place. Now, we plan to meet with the real estate guy, purchase our land then start shopping around for a builder to begin on our house. I am sure this process will take forever and we will not be in our house for a year or so but at least we are getting the ball rolling and hopefully be able to secure ourselves a house at today's current market value.

Basically the market is crazy right now and we have decided that we had better get on the roller coaster before it speeds off and leaves us behind. Here is hoping that everything works out. I will be posting more info. as we move along in this process and who knows in 6 months I may be able to start posting pictures of our house being built. For now all I can post is a picture of the house we hope to build.

The craze of housing

Well it has been awhile since I last wrote my last entry here. With the whole facebook sensation I don't have enough time to update both on a regular basis.

So let me tell you....the housing market in Regina is looking a little scary these days. The house that we moved out of two months ago and the owner sold for $138,000 is now worth $185,000. That's right, in two months the value of the house went up $47,000. I was talking to our real estate lady and she says that is the extreme case right now, but that housing is on the upward spike right now and she sees little chance of it slowing down in the near future. So here we are....wanting to get into a house of our own and start paying ourselves for rent instead of throwing it into someone elses pocket but just can't seem to pull it together. With student loans being a lingering shadow of my past no bank will look our way and without getting a piece of paper that says Jamie and I hold permanent jobs we are not able to get a mortgage. What do we do? Get parents to co-sign and borrow a down payment? Where does that get us....now we owe parents/grandparents/family money instead of owing the bank? We could sit around on our ass saving money...for example $20,000 for a down payment and in that time have a bit of our debt paid down, but think about it. We save $20,000 for a down payment on a house that has increase in value of $70,000 in the time it took us to save $20,000. What the fuck! So now not only are we paying rent longer, we also lose out on $50,000! AHHHH!!!!!

If we had bought a house 2 months ago....got a co-signer we could be selling it now, paying off all of our debt and getting into a bigger/nicer house and being happy forever. This is the curse of being our age and trying to develop ourselves with careers/houses, etc. in a time when the economy is booming and the rich are getting richer as the rest of us sink in the rising tide.

I guess in the end all we can wish for is that it all works out for the best!

It sucks to be Wise

You know, most people think that to be wise is a great gift. I beg to differ, because with wisdom comes wisdom teeth. Now some may ask, "what's wrong with smart teeth?".....well I'll tell you, the hurt like a bugger. I have delt with wisdom teeth since about grade 7, but it seems that the problem has gotten much worse over the last few months. I can now expect that approximately every 3 weeks or so to have a visit from my wisdom teeth, not sure why because every time they try to come for a visit they get the same result.....NO ROOM....You think they would get the hint and simply move on and never come back.

I guess I am just going to have to take matters into my own hands and have them removed!

Curling Champs

That's right guys!!!! We were curling champs this weekend in a "fun"-spiel that Becky's school group put on. Our team, better known as "team awesome" consisted of 4 exceptional members, lead - Stacey, 2nd - Jamie, 3rd - Myself and Skip was a guy by the name of Rory (Denny). We managed to win all three games and came out on top winning the whole event based on point for and against. I believe that we won by 1 point. Supper was also provided for us which was AWESOME.

Since it was saint Patricks day we went to Old Navy and bought team outfits. They, as you can see in the picture consisted of saint patty's day boxers over top of our curling pants, green shirts and nice green lays. Ah we were definitely a sight for sore eyes that day.
After the curling festival was over we all went out to the pump to celebrate Saint Patty's Day by consuming some green beer and having a good time.
Jamie and I also curl every Tuesday night in another league and we are in playoffs at the moment. Lets just hope that we do as well in the league as we did last weekend!

A guide to feeling safe in Regina

Well, there really isn't a guide to feeling safe in Regina, however after last weekend Jamie and I have made steps into trying to feel a little more secure in Regina. We just recently moved into a new neighbourhood a few weeks ago and thought that it seemed like a really nice, quiet, safe area. It all changed on Friday night. Jamie and I had gone to bed at around 11:00, like old people married people do. At around 11:30 Jamie woke up thinking that someone was at the door. I quickly assumed she was wrong and told her just to go back to sleep. The dog was barking and I thought that it must have just been the cats or something similar that set the dog off. To make Jamie feel better I got Miki (our dog) to quiet down and we couldn't hear anything at the door. I got up to use the washroom and when I got back to the bedroom Jamie was WIDE awake. She was quick to tell me that there had to be people in the backyard because we could see what looked like flashlights shinning through our window. I took a look out the window to see what was up and saw 2 people searching our back yard with flashlights looking at all the windows and door. After some thought and a phone call to Jamie's Mom we decided to call the City police. We were informed that there had been several break-ins in our area that night and it would be to cops looking around. SO case solved....they were cops in our backyard. You can assume that the rest of the night was quiet sleepless. We now have an alarm system hooked up in the house and feel much safer.

We are glad that we never waited until we ourselves got broke into before taking action to secure our house. Now with both the dog and the alarm...good luck trying to break in.......I HOPE!

Saskatchewan

So for starters forgive me if this blog gets a little sentimental. I have been thinking a bit lately about living in Saskatchewan and how people perceive us that live in this province. I tend to get the impression from "outsiders" that Saskatchewan is looked down upon, and we as residence of this province are pegged as hillbillies. I remember at one time Saskatchewan residence being refered to as "gappers", in definition the people that fill the void between Manitoba and Alberta. I also recently heard of a radio station in BC holding a contest called "You know your in Saskatchewan when..." where the person with the most "assaulting" line won a pair of tickets to the Juno awards. I can only assume that such people have never been to Saskatchewan to experience what we have to offer. On a side note, some of my rant is coming from a recent student interview we held which I will have to post at another time and will most definitely get a rise out of those who come from a farming background.

Anyways, I have been trying to figure out what it is that keeps me drawn to this province. The following is a short list of the top 10 things that keep me drawn to this province:
  • 1 - Saskatchewan is the home of our family farm which means a lot to me and I enjoy being close to it and being able to keep my foot well grounded in the farming community. I have lately been slacking on lending a hand at the farm but these last few months have been very crazy.
  • 2 - My wife's family also lives close by and they mean a lot to her and to me. Being close to them is always a good thing and soon will be even better when we can lean on them as babysitters....just kidding, we love them dearly and they are most definitely a reason why we stay in this province.
  • 3 - Saskatchewan is a province that always has you guessing and on your toes in regards to the weather, the economy and the government.
  • 4 - The space. I love the fact that Saskatchewan is sparsely populated and they is so much open space and fields.
  • 5 - The northern lights - I am sure that we have the best light show next to Alaska.
  • 6 - The natural attractions. There are so many things to see in Saskatchewan, you just have to know where to look. For example last summer for work we went on a landslide tour. During the tour we were lucky enough to see Castle Rock (Castle Butte) which is a HUGE rock in the big muddy valley South on Bengough. It was amazing. I am hopefully going to attach a photo album of this and the other attractions we took in during our tour.
  • 7 - The PEOPLE - We are in fact not hillbillies, but grounded, down to earth people who actually give a crap about others. To some that may be the common trait of a hillbilly and if so...then I guess I am proud that I live in a province filled with them and again am proud to say that I too am a Hillbilly!
  • 8 - The lakes, yes that is right the lakes. Saskatchewan is the province of a 1000 lakes. You just have to find them.
  • 9 - The landscape. It may be flat to some, but to me, I grew up in the Moose Mountains. There is nothing but rolling hills around our farm. I am gonna try to also attach some pictures of the hills for you too.
  • AND 10 - The cost of living. Thank the lord that we have nothing close to a Calgary or Edmonton. I enjoy the fact that I will one day own my house and in fact not be broke my entire life trying to pay for a 800 square foot home. I can in fact live in a 2000 square foot home and actually pay it off! Crazy I know, but again Saskatchewan offers us that opportunity.

To end off, I must say that I hope to be able to raise my family in Saskatchewan and show them all the beauty that this great province has to offer.

So much for the "WARM" weekend

So yet again the weather reporters were wrong. Funny how it seems that they get it wrong more times that they get it right. Jamie and I were so pumped for the "forcasted" warm weather for the weekend. We thought that it would be a perfect weekend to get outside a bit. We were quiet surprised to see how cold it was when we got up on Saturday morning. It was -26 without the windchill. People such as Tyler and Emery would be able to speak for how cold it was. They were ice fishing at Regina Beach and when Jamie and I caught up with them Saturday night they still looked frozen. I am sure that some of the redness in their faces must have been from the amount of alcohol they had been consuming that day/night.

Anyways, Jamie and I did manage to get outside last night for a walk with the dog but cut it super short as we were freezing the second we stepped outside. I am hearing good things for the end of the week again but am not holding my breath just yet. If today is anything like this weekend than it will be another crappy weekend of cold weather. I think the weather people should be forcasting -40 so when we look and see it is -26 we can be happily surprised instead of pissed off!

Well on another note I just came from a PEPP presentation and who knew that at the young age of 25 I would have to be making decisions on my retirement and what type of investments I want to make in order to achieve my retirement goals. There was a lot of talk of risk and gains but I am still a bit confused so before I make the final decision on how I want to invest my PEPP funds I am going to have to do a bit of homework. If only I knew a friend who deals with finances and could help as a financial planner.......hey Michelle!

Well enough for now.

Well this would be the first time I have blogged. I spent the morning reading over some friends blogs and decided it was about time I made a blog for myself. Even if no one ever reads it at least I can say that I have posted a blog or two.

Well life has been moving at a quick pace since December. I married a beautiful girl at the end of December and we just finished moving into a new place together. We were living together in a house already but the owners were selling and we decided to get out while we still could. It was a move for the best since we are now paying less rent for the place and are once again without roommates. We really wanted to buy this time around but it just isn't in the cards for us until we know where Jamie will be getting a job. So for now we are hoping to save some money for a down payment on a house when we are ready and to help pay for a trip or two this year. Jamie graduates in May and we are really hoping to be able to stay around the Regina area with friends/family and cheaper living costs!

I am still with the Department of Highways in Regina and loving it. This winter I had a chance to drive a snowplow truck for a few days while SGEU was on strike. It was quiet an experience and I managed to make a nice chunk of money doing it. I have also had an opportunity to gain some valuable engineering experience with the Department and have got my hands on a few projects thus far. If anyone is looking for summer work, I know that the Department is always hiring for seasonal positions. Nice pay and overtime if you are in construction. Can't go wrong with overtime pay!

Well, with that said, I should get to work here. Fridays are always quiet and slow around the office. Especially with the weather the way it is.
